Lectures in ELL2015S, Romance to Realism, 2007

The lectures offer several differing approaches to Shelley's text: as Gothic novel, as woman's text, and as science fiction novel. I also pay some attention to the novel's exploration of the Promethean myth, and to issues of identity bound up in the novel's interest in Milton's Paradise Lost.
